שיר החלה את דרכה הפוליטית כבר בגיל 14 כפעילה חברתית ופוליטית. ייסדה את ‪“‬המרכז הישראלי להכשרה פוליטית" – הגוף הראשון בישראל המכשיר אנשי מקצוע בארץ ובעולם למקצועות הפרלמנט, ממשלה וגופי התקשורת.
כיהנה כח״כ החל מהכנסת ה21.
הובילה את מאבק העצמאים בתקופת הקורונה במסגרת חברותה בוועדת כספים.

כיו״ר הוועדה לזכויות הילד הובילה להקמת גורם ממשלתי לתיאום ותכלול נושא הילדים בישראל- בזכותו לראשונה מדינת ישראל שמה את הילדים במרכז.
חוקקה את חוק האחים השכולים, החוק להארכת תקופת ההתיישנות לפגיעות מיניות בקטינים ואת חוק הטבות המס לעיר עכו.
