אזור התעשייה הצפוני באשדוד הוא אחד המזהמים בישראל, פוגע באיכות חייהם ובריאותם של תושבות ותושבי אשדוד, יבנה והסביבה וגורם לסיכונים בריאותיים, ביטחוניים וכלכליים.
ח"כ יוראי להב הרצנו (יש עתיד), ביחד עם חברי כנסת נוספים ושורה של ארגונים אזרחים, מוביל את המאבק הציבורי בנושא בשנים האחרונות כשדבר אחד לנגד עיניו – טובת הציבור ושמירה על תושבות ותושבי האזור.
לאחר מס' דיונים שנערכו בכנסת בנושא, השבוע התקיים דיון מעקב נוסף. ח"כ יוראי להב הרצלנו אמר בדיון:
"אשדוד והסביבה לא יכולים להיות החצר האחורית של מדינת ישראל. אני דורש מהמשרד להגנת הסביבה להפעיל את הסמכויות שניתנו לו בחוק ולוודא שהדברים קורים כמו שצריך"
בנוסף, במסגרת הדיון בוועדה, ובהמשך לשאילתה של ח"כ יוראי להב הרצנו מלפני למעלה משנה, התחייב המשרד להגנת הסביבה כי מצלמות בתי הזיקוק יפתחו לצפייה של הציבור הרחב בעוד כחודשיים.
